China and Cuba: Examining the Sino-Cuban Ties in the Context of Latin America and the Caribbean
The authors explore the relationship between China and Cuba within the broader context of China’s engagement in Latin America and the Caribbean. Their study questions whether this relationship constitutes a “special relationship,” aiming to understand the depth and uniqueness of Sino-Cuban ties by comparing them with China’s relations with other countries in the region. Their analysis is structured around institutional diplomatic, economic, military security, and scientific–cultural relations, assessing both quantitative developments and qualitative aspects, such as external and self-perception.
